With it's updated southern traditional design, attention to detail, and rich finishes, this home is the epitome of where we think architectural design and new home construction will lean in the coming years. It is a combination of layout, materials, and details that harkens back to the essence of "home" creating an escape and haven in the middle of a tumultuous world.
The design references 1920's farmhouses with modern updates. Outside that means a combination of true, antique brick and richly painted siding along with cedar trellises and flower-filled window boxes. Stately columns frame the front porch and a wide veranda that faces an open courtyard.
Inside, the home is designed for casual, family-focussed entertaining. True formals and a private study sit in the front of the home where a wine room and china closet open off of the oversized dining room. Even the side entry is designed for greeting guests with it's large door and 8' sidelights. A family-sized kitchen (and pantry to match) allows for kids to gather around the island while the chef works with professional grade appliances. Next to the kitchen, the family room has two sets of mahogany French doors opening to the veranda and is large enough to accommodate a breakfast table and seating group around a paneled fireplace with antique brick surround. Of course, you can't miss the large mud room designed for a young family with its own washer and dryer, two desk spaces, lockers for backpacks, and charging stations for all of the wireless gear.
A walnut staircase with block-paneling leads upstairs to a large landing with kids' study area. The master bedroom sits just off the landing and has huge windows but maintains privacy thanks to the vine covered trellis below. The master bath has separate vanities, a free-standing tub, large shower, and private water closet.
A gallery with windows looking to the courtyard and picture rail for the ever changing family artwork leads to four secondary bedrooms each with vaulted ceilings that take advantage of every cubic inch under the roof line. Centered in the middle of the gallery is a play area with built in storage for games, books, and toys that will make for a quiet sitting area once the kids are grown. At the end of the gallery an oversized utility room has tons of storage behind full height cabinetry, multiple folding surfaces, a desk space, and enough floor area for ironing and family craft projects.
