Construction Supervision
Unlike many architectural design firms that put their files in the archive the minute a design is completed, we know that our designs are not meant to remain on paper. We understand that in the eyes of our clients the project is just getting started. The excitement that comes as our clients see their project coming to fruition is exhilarating for us too. We also know that it can be a bit nerve racking for a client to see their drawings coming to life - Will all the details come together correctly? Will the finishes fit with the overall feel of the house? Is that really what that is supposed to look like? - That is why Parker Stuckey Residential doesn't leave a project after we complete a design. For every project we take on, whether it is renovating a master suite or building a new home from the ground up, we continue our involvement throughout the construction process.
For many projects that means meeting with our client and their contractor before a hammer strikes the first nail and then on a regular basis as the process continues. We help to review details and examine options in every stage of construction to make sure that our clients are getting exactly what they expect out of our designs.
When a project comes along that we just can't leave in the hands of someone else we have full construction administration capabilities. We start by working with the best structural engineers to completely engineer the foundation and frame. We regularly ask them to go above and beyond their initial recommendations so our final product reaches the level of excellence that we demand. That typically means that we utilize structural slab foundations that help avoid the stress that comes with expansion and contraction of the soil. From there we use 2x6 lumber instead of the typical 2x4s to frame the walls. Engineered, open-web trusses provide a floor system that is not only incredibly strong but allows plumbing and electrical lines to pass through without drilling holes through a structural component. Plywood decking carries that strength throughout the upper floors and its thickness reduces sound transfer to the living spaces below.
After the structure is complete, we work with some of the best craftsmen in the field to carry the same level of excellence into the home's finishes. They each have the expertise and experience to produce exceptional quality with an artistic eye. Inlayed wood floors, antiqued custom cabinets, hand troweled plaster, and intricatly detailed paneling can come together in a way that creates much more than the sum of their parts.
